Wedding money packets are the printed red packets a couple's guests, family and helpers receive around a wedding — at the banquet, at the tea ceremony, and in the couple's own thank-you sets. We print them factory-direct in Foshan: your artwork, your wording, your format, in the 80 × 170 mm portrait, 158 × 80 mm landscape and 90 × 90 mm square sizes, with a 1,000-piece minimum.
A wedding order is usually several small runs of the same printed object, not one generic packet. The list below is what buyers actually order.
A wedding money packet — a wedding red packet — is a printed paper envelope used to hold a cash gift. Which packet goes to whom, what is written on it, and whether it is sealed are matters of local and family custom that vary widely — so we do not print to a rule, we print to the brief you give us. What stays constant is the object: a printed, folded, glued envelope in a recognisable format, with the finishing your artwork needs. A red packet for wedding dinner tables is usually the largest single item; the family and thank-you versions sit alongside it.
| Order type | What it usually is | Format most often specified |
|---|---|---|
| Banquet table packets | A plain or lightly marked packet for guests at the dinner | 158 × 80 mm landscape, some 80 × 170 mm portrait |
| Tea ceremony set | A more formal packet, often foil-stamped, for the family side of the wedding | 80 × 170 mm portrait or 90 × 90 mm square |
| Couple's thank-you set | Named packets for helpers, vendors and close guests | 90 × 90 mm square or 158 × 80 mm landscape |
| Invitation suite add-on | A small packet matching the invitation's paper and print | Custom die-cut, same stock as the invitation |
If the wedding also needs the invitation envelope itself, that is a different product with different artwork rules — the custom red packet range covers the packet side, and the sizes, inner dimensions and banknote clearances are on the red packet sizes guide.
The minimum order for wedding money packets is 1,000 pieces. The same figure applies to every print method, digital and offset alike, and to every format — a run below 1,000 pieces cannot be put into production.
Why: a wedding packet is converted as well as printed. Each order carries its own die, a press make-ready and the finishing set-ups that follow — foil, emboss, spot UV or lamination. Those set-ups are recovered across the run, and 1,000 pieces is the smallest run that spreads them sensibly. A wedding usually needs several versions (banquet, family, thank-you), and each version is quoted from its own specification.
| Order item | Minimum | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Printed wedding packets, standard format | 1,000 pieces | Digital and offset printing alike |
| Additional version (different artwork) | 1,000 pieces per version | Versions are quoted separately; tell us the quantity per design |
| Custom format with a new die | 1,000 pieces | Die work is quoted with the order |
| Runs below 1,000 pieces | Not offered | Die, make-ready and finishing set-ups are per order |
Price and lead time are quoted per specification — format, stock, printing, finishing, quantity — through Request a Quote, and the quotation confirms both before production.
Sizes are written width × height on the finished, glued packet. Finished size is the outer dimension; the inner pocket is about 2–3 mm smaller on every edge.
| Format | Finished size (W × H) | Opening | What it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Portrait / pocket | 80 × 170 mm | Short edge | The traditional tall packet many family sets are printed in |
| Landscape / wallet | 158 × 80 mm | Long edge | The banquet-table standard in Singapore and Malaysia |
| Square | 90 × 90 mm | — | Modern suites, hotels, thank-you sets |
| Custom | To your die-line | Your call | Matching an invitation suite; same 1,000-piece minimum |
Two production points decide whether a packet feels right in the hand: 2–3 mm of bleed so trimming never exposes a white edge, and a die-line that accounts for the side seams and flap. Both are specified on the die, not guessed at press time.
Wedding packets are usually the most finished product on a red packet order. Each process adds its own artwork rule, so design to the tighter number.
| Process | Typical wedding use | Design constraint |
|---|---|---|
| Foil stamping | Gold monogram, names, date and border rules | Keep foil lines ≥ 0.2 mm wide and ≥ 1 mm clear of other artwork, or the foil breaks up |
| Emboss / blind deboss | A relief monogram or motif with no ink at all | Blind work on pre-coloured card avoids printing a large solid |
| Spot UV | A gloss pattern over a matte or soft-touch base | Keep spot UV away from the trimmed edges, or pressing and trimming chip it |
| Matte / soft-touch lamination | A quiet, even surface — often paired with foil | Works best over a heavier coated stock |
| Self-adhesive seal | A packet the guest closes without gum on the inside | Adds a converting step; confirm it on the die-line |
| Inside print | A thank-you line or the couple's names inside the flap | A separate pass; keep the text clear of the glued seam |
Foil and emboss are the two finishes that most often need artwork redrawn, because they need a physical margin that print does not. The red packet printing page lists the full process set and the artwork tolerances in one place.
What to decide before artwork starts — the decisions that change the die, not just the look.
| What you decide | Options | Why it matters at production |
|---|---|---|
| Text on the packet | Names, date, a monogram, a single character, or nothing but the motif | The wording is yours — customs and naming differ by region and family, so we print what you approve |
| Motif and border | Floral, geometric, a venue or crest mark, a repeating rule | Thin rules are the first thing to break up in foil — redraw them heavier |
| Colour route | Red on red, foil on red, a non-red colourway for a modern suite | Pre-coloured red card plus foil can avoid printing a large solid |
| Stock | Gloss or matte art paper, pearl paper, soft-touch, pre-coloured card | Pearl and soft-touch take foil differently — proof before the run |
| Insert card | None, a thank-you card, a printed programme slip | It is a separate printed item and a separate line on the quote |
Wedding sets are where design direction matters most. The red packet design ideas guide covers the routes (minimal, motif-led, foil-led, illustration-led, seasonal) and how each one ages — useful when the couple is choosing between a look that lasts and one that dates.
Most weddings need two or three versions. The cheapest way to run them is to fix everything that can be fixed and vary only what must vary.
A banquet packet and a family packet can share the same stock, print and finishing, and differ only in artwork — that keeps press set-ups to a minimum. Variable-data printing is available within the 1,000-piece minimum, so a packet can carry a guest's or a helper's name; keep the variable field away from foil and emboss areas, because those are set up once for the whole run.
State the quantity per version rather than one total when you request a quote — that is what makes two quotes comparable and what tells us how many dies and make-readies the job actually needs.
Five stages from brief to delivery. A wedding date is fixed, so plan backwards from the date rather than forwards from the quote.
Versions, quantity per version (1,000 minimum), format, stock and finishing. Rough is fine to quote from.
Price, production schedule and freight option within 24 hours of a complete specification.
You supply artwork and a die-line, or approve ours. Proof approved before anything goes on press.
Print, then foil, emboss or spot UV, then die-cut, fold and glue on the same line.
Packed by version and shipped to your address or forwarder; freight quoted with the order.
| Stage | Typical duration | What it depends on |
